Our History
In 2001, Deb and Jim Peters founded Cambridge School based on their belief that every child deserves the opportunity for an excellent education. They wanted to provide that education for bright students who learn differently. The Peters envisioned a school for children with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, auditory processing disorder, and executive function difficulties, among others. The school would be:
- Built on evidence-based research
- Focused on early intervention starting in Kindergarten
- Fully accredited for parental quality assurance
Cambridge School opened its doors in 2001 to 10 bright and eager students who struggled in a traditional academic setting. The original school was located at 62 South Main Street in Pennington, New Jersey. Due to rapid growth in the first few years, the school moved to its current campus in 2004.
On October 15, 2021, the Middle States Association awarded Cambridge School full Accreditation for grades K-12 through January 2029.
Our Certificate affirms that Cambridge School:
- Provides high-quality educational experiences for students
- Meets its responsibilities to the profession of education
- Complies with standards established by the Commission on Elementary Schools
Today, Cambridge School continues to thrive with approximately 150 students. Cambridge is a school where teaching, learning, and personal relationships are paramount. At Cambridge School, students’ powers of curiosity and imagination are stimulated and their academic, personal, and social needs are supported. Students are given opportunities to investigate their interests, acquire confidence in their abilities, believe in their intrinsic worth, and develop the skills necessary to succeed. Cambridge School is truly a dream come true!
